Hüseyin Demir

Hüseyin graduated from the Department of Mathematics in 2008. After working as a teacher for a couple of years, he started to focus on his main interest which he believes he can create an impact on people’s lives. He worked as a coordinator in various projects in the district governorships then started working in the refugee camps with AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency) and it was a milestone in which he switched his career to the humanitarian field. He has carried out projects in various national and international NGOs in the areas of Livelihood, Protection, and Social Cohesion and has been working in the field of humanitarian aid for more than 10 years.

Together with a group of civil society volunteers, he founded AVAZ Association on August 8, 2017. Since then, he has been working as the director of the AVAZ Association which aims to improve the lives of disadvantaged the local and refugee community members in the Southeastern Anatolia region and offer them sustainable living opportunities.

Hüseyin believes that women and girls gaining professional skills that are away from sexist approaches can positively change the future of the whole world.
