Rockflower Launches Campaign to Train Traditional Birth Attendants (Comadrona) in Guatemala

Saving Mothers empowers traditional birth attendants to prioritize women's health and education.

In Guatemala, the rate of maternal mortality continues to be unacceptably high. This is particularly true amongst indigenous Mayan women living in rural areas, where an expectant mother's odds of dying during childbirth (163 per 100,000) are more than twice that in more urban locations.

Rockflower partnered with Saving Mothers to train traditional birth attendants (Comadrona) in the rural areas of Guatemala as well as provide vital resources such as birth kits and prenatal vitamins to expectant mothers.

The Training Traditional Birth Attendants campaign will be led by Rockflower Youth Advisor Board members, Hannah Delaney and Isabella Ward.
