FOWACE works to improve the standard of living and well-being of vulnerable women and children in Liberia. The organization was created in 2017 as a direct response to the aftermath of the Ebola outbreak and has focused on creating livelihood opportunities for disadvantaged women and children. Their experience and lessons learned during the Ebola crisis, have meant that they have been able to adapt those skills to counter all forms of suffering resulting from the current pandemic.

The suffering of women and children in Liberia has only intensified within the COVID-19 pandemic and has led to a higher poverty rate as well as increased incidences of rape, sexual exploitation and exposure to sexually transmitted diseases. Many women have lost their sources of income as a result of protracted lockdowns. Rockflower is partnering with FOWACE to fund this multi-faceted project that will empower and guide victims of rape and sexual exploitation in accessing justice at all levels of the community. The project will also create sustainable economic opportunities through the establishing of village savings groups, by providing each group with a saving box, individual record books and training on the importance of savings. By promoting solidarity among the women they will have a source of credit for emergencies, school fees, medical care and small business expenses.

Mission: To improve the standard of living and well-being of vulnerable women and children by providing a safe, secure environment, educational opportunities and rescuing women and children from situation of abuse.

Vision: A loving and understanding family environment, which supports the full and complete development of women and children.
